“Hello world, oh boy, here we go!”

Oh boy here we go, I’ve created my first youtube video “officially”

Alright, alright let’s start from the start when I Joined the Ytubes in 2011. Yup, I said it, a major throwback. Do you remember youtube in 2011? All of the funny vids, the relentless makeup tuts, and admittedly unnecessary blunt edit cuts to keep your interest. Sigh those were da-days…

Well in those days I was but a voyeuristic viewer of the infamous free worldwide visual search engine named “YouTube” after what I believe was an homage to the nomenclature of TVs in the 50s “the tube”(insert old youtube video).

For many years, I’ve sat on the sidelines, in awe of the youtube evolution. This world has served as an inspiration, aspiration, and notably even as a form of education in the evolution of my own visual journey. — and for that I am grateful.

In 2019 I began my career as a mentor. Having experienced an inexplicable whirlwind journey in the design industry with countless stories and techniques to share, I felt this to be the right moment to share my knowledge with a new generation of aspiring artists that like me, chose the route of self-education. Or what I like to call “self-evolution”

But there was one thing stopping me, time & money.

And so, I dared to venture into what at the time seemed like a slim chance at earning the allotted annual adobe creative residency which would grant me the time and financial support to attempt this dream of mentorship. It was admittedly an attempt at taking a big bite of an alluring cake!

— The thing is, I got it.

This experience was like no other, I began to collaborate with notable experts in the field of public speaking and education with the power of the adobe creative cloud. I was like a kid in a candy store. This experience granted me access to a new way of seeing the creative industry in the works.

And this was an entrance for me into video storytelling, live streaming, and a true involvement in the creative community. I was geared and ready to make it on my own after this abundant experience.

Then 2020 happened.

Among the chaos, I found myself front and center documenting the streets in an attempt to help a pressing cause through photojournalism.

Among the chaos, I fell in love. I navigated my gayhood and came out to my Latin mom.

Among the chaos, I moved to a new state; Austin texas and experienced the once-in-a-lifetime historic snowpocalypse. making me and self-proclaimed Austinite overnight.

Among the chaos, I continued livestream on Behance with the support of the adobe team and nurtured my education skills for my ultimate pursuit.

These were in fact my first videos on Youtube… ha! I joke now all the time, that I exist on everyone else’s youtube channel when you search “Cyn Lagos”. So I am already in the tubes! I am grateful.

And now…

…with all of these experiences, I am ready to nurture my own channel for the beautiful community of artists and creators exploring and venturing into their own journeys. The daring bunch that chooses to evolution, self-education, learning from youtube just like I once did before.

I welcome you on this new era, a new journey into the youtube wilderness with me. A space for your growth in education. A resource of inspiration for your artistic voice. Empowerment of self-reflection in this wonderful journey of life.

#WeThePeoplsSeries

For a very long time I’ve been intrigued by the phrase in the preamble of the United States and in these times of distress I find it important to revisit:

-

We the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

That all sounds sweet and all, but one question still remains, WHO are THE PEOPLE in this sentence? Are they the poor, the oppressed, are they black?

As you may have caught on, this question remains to be solved.

But today you can take action toward a better America.

An Empty Promise

Let’s aim to make America accountable for its promise of justice, tranquility, and the common welfare of its citizens. This fight is so powerful because it focuses on an issue that affects so many marginalized groups, and right now more than ever, the black community.

Caring for each-other is the order of the day.

I urge you to study the oppression of your neighbor, so that together we enforce the right message.

What I have learned during a protest

When you hear the chant “I am sick and tired of being sick and tired” coming from the lungs of a black women in a protest, the sheer volume of her voice makes you wander deeper into her anguish. I have come to learn that it highlights the length of time the racial discrimination has been persistent in the lives of the unheard voices of black trans, black latino, black female, black immigrant, black queer…

ENOUGH

The racial divide has been alive for too long and the deaths of real humans have been a by-product of this unaddressed issue.

We are witnessing civil unrest, because enough is truly ENOUGH.
